No serial number.

London,

Stamp: Stamped on all joints: A. KAUFFMANN/ LONDON.

Marks: No marks visible under keys.

Manufacture Date: Made c. 1820?

Hallmarks: No hallmarks.

Comments: Kauffmann flutes have that air about them that reminds me of replica makers proud to ply their trade without having been encumbered with tedious years of apprenticeship. Nonetheless this flute is a strong player, and has been used in historical performances of Romantic music.

Material: Made of ivory, with eight silver keys, and with fancy silver rings. Ivory cork screw with replaced ivory tip.

System: Eight keyed flute, C foot. English early romantic model, with partial tuning slide.

Condition: Condition is not bad, yet some crack and key repairs are visible. The low C# touch is difficult to adjust, thanks to the soft silver used for the keys.

Pitch: Seems pitched around A=440.

Sounding Length: Sounding length 58.4 cm.

Measurements:

Weight: 440

Case: In contemporary wooden case.
